This
programme is also being implemented in all the islands of Lakshadweep.
Six percent of the total population for active surveillance and four
percent for passive surveillance is kept as target for one year. Blood
samples are collected from all fever cases and by contacts and surveys.
Positive cases are detected and treated. Focal spray with insecticides,
conducting of contact surveys, observances of anti malaria month to
create awareness among the public are the other measures taken. Malaria
is totally controlled except for few imported cases.
